Screw poutine.

Bacon wrapped scallops grilled in a garlic saute with a dash of pepper.

Jalapeno poppers, stuffed with crab meat.

Jalapeno corn bread.

Ever seen those bread bowls full of clam chowder? Jalapeno/bell pepper corn bread bowls full of honest to God good eating chilli.

For those who have never had the pleasure, bacon stuffed chilli relleno burrito.

.... and to top it all off: hushpuppies. BRB I need to get some food now. Laughing

No not entirely. Were I to mean it I would have to be Canadian and demystifying that finer maple syrup loving statement would be about like the apple pie scene from the movie American Pie. I think the Canadians call it 'riding the gravy train.' Poutine just really isn't my type.

In depth what I mean is I have had Canadian cuisine and was not really impressed in the slightest. About the best food I had out there I caught with my own two hands out of a lake in British Columbia or was finely butchered meat that was either farmed or hunted and grilled, again, with our own two hands. That's not to say the French have lost their touch at all when it comes to poutine. It just is not for me and I prefer the more Cajun French dishes.

Plus the food poisoning with poutine in Canada probably didn't help my perspective on the dish. Laughing

There's only two countries that really know their ways around finger-sized chunks of potato and boiling oil: Belgium and the Netherlands. Seriously, come here for a while and go where the locals go. I'm dreading the moment in which I'll go back to the soft, oily, disgusting chips (take that americans) of Barcelona.
