Hey I am new here, just call me Jay...Jay is the alter-ego of my real life self, the more cynical side of my personality.
Anyway, I have read these forums many times over the years and always had a laugh reading people's accounts of baiting.
So, the problem I have now is, yesterday I received an email out of nowhere from a site I signed up to years ago and forgot about till recently(mentalhealthdating.com) and the little alarm bells started going off in my head almost instantly. I was always taught if something does not seem right, then it probably stinks to high heaven, which has made it hard for anybody to try scamming me, I'm quite a cynical b*&^/$ d at heart.
I have had a similar experience from the same site 6 months ago and never heard from the person again when I said the magic words "I am broke and don't have a pot to piss in"...
But this time I want this contact to run it's course and see where it leads...
Any Advice would be appreciated |

Hi Jay, welcome to our little corner of scammer hell!. If you're sure it's a lad, you really should respond from an email that has no connection with your RL info. It may be a problem if your dating profile has your RL info.
It's easier and certainly safer to set up a fake profile on one of the free sites and wait for the lads to approach. This thread discusses some excellent hunting grounds:

The site I got the correspondence from has my real life nickname on, and the email address I used for it is an old one I rarely use these days...Photos I use are very real ones but I am heavily disguised and other places I use like messengers are always under a pseudonym
