It is amazing how gullible humans can be when looking for love! I met someone online that I really thought was Mr Right in every way. He sent beautiful emails full of romance and love and duped me Rolling Eyes

in more ways than one. Fortunately I realised he is a scammer before parting with any money but he has my photographs which were sent before I realised what this person was up to. He has voicemails from me which he asked me to send after he had sent me a video recording of himself. Unfortunately I can't post that because it has too much of my informating woven into it. Gosh I shudder to think how stupid I actually was. I found the 419scam online quite by accident one evening and after reading that and discovering scambaiters I decided to string him along. So I am still in contact with him on an almost daily basis. It is scarey though because I have no clue where he is from or what he intends to do with my information. Any / all advice will be welcome Smile

He has your personal details (I assume that you are still using your real life email address) and you have an emotional involvement with him, so drop him.

If you can post his details (without revealing yours) at our sister site scamwarners.com, that will help any other victims he may be scamming.

If you want to carry on baiting other scammers safely, read the stickies and sign up for a mentor. You can then anonymously bait other scammers and cause real damage to them, as well as just stringing them along.

Hi Joaleen, so very sorry about this. Please know this, you are NOT stupid. These criminals do a very good job at impersonating who they pretend to be.

I hope you follow B8er's advice and post the information at scamwarners so others that may be in contact him will hopefully see that he is a scammer.

There is a way to bait him but I do strongly encourage you drop him right away since he has your real info.

Let yourself heal mentally prior to baiting. Once you are ready, we're here to help.

He has my first name but not my surname and he only has a yahoo mail address for me. I am more worried about what he will do with the photos and voice mails, how he might use them to scam others. I will be posting on scanwarners as well. Thank you Ginger Lee for helping a little with the confidence there! Much appreciated.

With a Yahoo email address, if he is tech savvy, he could get a fairly accurate idea of where you live (or even a very accurate one if you have ever emailed him from somewhere with a fixed IP address such as your work).

Unfortunately, there is nothing you can do about the photos/voicemails he has sent and there is a chance that he could use them in other scams, to pretend that they are him.

Take a visit here http://www.iptrackeronline.com/ and it will tell you what your IP address says about your location. That is what he would see if he checked your IP address.

My problem is that I am NOT that tech savvy so even if he was in my front garden I would not be able to find out Embarassed

. I want to waste as much of his time as I possibly can. The emotional attachement went the day he saw fit to insult me and if I can help the next person not get caught then so much the better

That depends on what email address he's using. If it is Gmail or Hotmail/Outlook then you can't tell where he is. If he is using Yahoo then you may be able to tell - if you select one of his emails and right-click on it and select "view full header". Copy everything that is displayed in the window that pops up.

If you go back to IPtrackeronline.com and select "Email Header Analysis" from the menu, then you can post the header and it will tell you where the email came from.

Chances are though that he is either in Africa or the Far East.

Hi Joaleen, welcome to Eater. As was said before, you should drop him and cease all contact and post is info over @ scamwarners. Know that you are not at all stupid and none of this is your fault.

Remember that many lads are extremely good at fooling people.

Welcome to the forum Joaleen! I am sorry we are meeting due to your experience but you should not blame yourself for anything that has happened. These people are criminals every day of the week. This is what they consider a job.

The romance scammers are a disgusting breed that not only wreck lives and bank accounts with their lies but these people destroy something much deeper in a person.

Posting the information on our sister site is about the best thing you can do with this one but it is not advisable that you chase this particular one. You have high emotions that are driving your desire for revenge but that is often a difficult obstacle to overcome for anybody.

If you post the details of his opening mail, the header information and where you met him I am sure that another baiter might be willing to give him a taste of pain.

Welcome Joaleen! Like the others have said, don't feel like a fool with what happened. Many of these guys are good at what they do - they've had lots of practice. With some of the lines they use on women, it's easy to see how they fall for them. You're definitely not the first and won't, unfortunately, be the last.

I would strongly suggest getting a gmail account and using that with guys you don't know rather than a yahoo one. It may give you a bit of peace of mind knowing that they can't pinpoint where you live. Heck, many of my "guys" think I live on another continent than what I actually do.

Like NV said, if you post the info here, we'll be glad to give it back to him for you.

Welcome Joaleen to our little corner of scammer hell. The romance scammers are the worst-they take more than money and time, they cost their victims their self respect and dignity.

Please do not think you are naive or stupid-so many people are scammed. It can literally happen to anyone, given the right situation. So take care of yourself-drop this piece of garbage. The folks over at SW can help you as well. There are a lot of former victims there who understand what you have gone though.

On big step, after cutting ties is to stop beating up on yourself. Give yourself time. And feel free to post here or at SW.

Joaleen, I am so sorry you were scammed, but very happy that you found Eater. I hope you'll stick around, read the threads and give some other lad some pain for what yours did to you. They're all the same, so baiting a different lad is still causing pain. You're taking time away from a scammer who would otherwise use that time to scam a real victim.

I am glad that you didn't lose any money, but I know the emotional/mental scamming is much worse than a few bucks. Let yourself heal and know that you are not alone. Romance scammers are the worst of the worst. Read the "Rosy" thread by Next Victim and you'll see how bad these lads are. There is also a few baits in my signature, read those and you'll see why we bait and when you get to "The Pig" thread in my signature you'll see what happens when a few baiters get together and cause some pain!

Best way is to post the header, email address and the first few scammails at SW. Please be sure to remove YOUR information. That way people who are googling names, email addresses or scripts will find them.

@capone thanks for that advice. Can I just add that to my current post on SW? Or will I have to do a new one. Going with everybodys advice I had to drop that lad unfortunately because of the emotional tie but I hope someone scams him so hard it hurts & makes his head spin!

Remember to remove (x out) your personal information. Post his email address, emails, phone numbers and pictures will be helpful to warn others.

I hope Ginger sees this! She's the best of the best to cause lad pain! I don't know how she does it, but she can cause pain like no one ever could!

Glad you dropped him. Just remember, it's not your fault! These guys are good, really good. They do this as a job, so they have lots of experience. You did nothing wrong. Nothing!

@Ewok have a mentor and have been given some excellent advice. From my mentor and also by the good people on this site and also SW.
