They either missed the word "million" or lived a very frugal existence and thought it a lot of wonga!

Some of us were doing some poking around about FMF last week. It seems odd that baiter accounts are getting axed but scammers aren't, even after repeated reports. No smoking gun, but the site origins and maintenance seem a little sketchy.

You can put anything up on the weekend and it won't be removed until late Sunday, early Monday.

I've had profiles removed. Just put them back up (like the scammers do).
Pretend soldiers never get removed.

But now they won't let you even put up a profile until it's been approved by a moderator! You can create the account but no pics or info can be seen by others for a day or two until the mods get around to approving it.

It seems odd that wanker profiles can stay, yet somewhat unattractive profiles are being axed.

GTmama, I think FMF has your IP flagged, so anything that you post won't be approved. It won't matter what you post, the moderators are watching for your IP. I have never used a proxy server, but you might want to try and post a profile using one. Perhaps asking in HH&T's forum, someone can guide you to a proxy service and guide you how to use it.

Or, send the profile to someone else, have them create it and see if it can be approved. If it's approved, then you can take over. Wink

@GTmama-I didn't know that changed. That will encourage the lads to do most of their stealing of photos off of facebook making them appear even more real. That blows.

@GTmama - If you use Firefox, try this proxy plugin: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/anonymox/ I snagged it from the documentary thread, and I've been pretty impressed so far. It's an anonymizer that doesn't require a second party proxy.

I use chrome. I'm not sure yet if it's my IP or if it was my email. I have 3 other profiles up and so far those are safe. The one I've had a problem with was a transgender I was trying to have some fun with. After a few days it was deleted. I put it back up two times each with different names and it was deleted both times. So the fourth time, I put it up as a straight person, different name, different pic, nothing about being gay or anything hinky in the about me section and it was still deleted. I'm going to try a new profile from another email addy I have and see what happens. If that one gets deleted too then I will try a proxy.

I agree that this means the scammers are going to be stealing better pics for their profiles and it sucks. Even though the mods are going to be approving profiles for now, I don't think they'll be identifying scammers.

I had one of my profiles that they refused to let me upload the pictures. Pretty silly considering they allow profiles with obvious lies like being windowed or being native american with a picture that contradicts. I really believe is set up as a scammer playground and nothing much else. And my 2 girls are still there but they look real, so that might be why they don't touch them.

The problem with FMF is easy: their software has a glitch when a user is trying to register a female profile. In some cases, it may take days before the profile is active and the user can even upload a picture. However, if you register a male profile, it is no problem. Even if the female profile is pending aproval, the user is able to visit the site or to send / receive messages. It's hard to imagine someone may have his / her profile banned on that site, what with FMF being amost as bad as 4ppl was. While reading those posts above, I checked again the dating site mentioned to see what happened. As other users here, I am using that site as a playground.

Problems:

1. Excerpt from the FMF chat room conversation happened last night:

Educating the scammers is the worst thing someone may do. Racist remarks can put any profile down. Offensive attitudes can get your account closed. I'm not trying to insinuate that any of those FMF users are also users here, but if this happened in the chat room area, it is not hard to imagine how the things are going during the instant messages established on FMF or private messages there.

There are baiter profiles on FMF that are utterly ridiculous, but have been there for a long time and get plenty of hits. Why is it that these new profiles are being closed?

The chatrooms are ALWAYS full of that conversation. Hofsomething sees it as his mission to rid that site of scammers.

I was messaged by someone with "scammers! in the name last night and warned about the perils of sending money to strangers!

Thanks Firef1y for your opinion. I for one, never participate in the chat rooms or forums at FMF. I've read them and as Ewok said, all it ever seems to be is scammers saying they're not scammers. As for educating scammers, if you've read any of my baits I think you'd see that I don't do that either.

As for my utterly ridiculous profiles, they are set that way for a reason. It is so that the few REAL people floating around FMF don't happen by my profile and hit me up for a date. I would hope your profiles are also set up that way.

100% agree with GTmama. We volunteer our time to help people as best we can. We don't educate scammers or condone racism. People like that don't last long at Eater. The lads add enough negativity to the world without baiters jumping on board.
