Anyway, as regards e-mail addresses, presumably there is a limit to the number of characters and I suspect this may be 255.

Thank you, Big Al, I've now counted characters of email addresses until my eyes went strange.....

Can't beat your lad on the longest though. My longest is:

[email protected]

which is probably something like 39 before the @, but I can't be sure after all that counting.
