First post on here so here goes

Strange one this.

I use Skype usually to speak to family etc but have an "alias" account for fooling about winding up pals - normally about football (soccer) Now is started to get a lot of strange "Hello xxxxxxx, I'd like to add you on Skype" notifications - usually deleted them but at a loose end one day I accepted one and started chatting - only Skype messaging - no video/mic.

Now don't all groan or burst into hysterical laughter but it was a girl (2 Cool

from Kumasi, Ghana. Anyway one thing led to another and next thing she says she loved me. I told her to back off. I got a video call from a girl who looked nothing like the photos but managed to keep a straight face and decided well, if you want a bit of fun lady - I'm game.

So I switched on the "charm" - romantic emails, pet names - hell it was good fun. Things took a sinister turn - we arranged a video chat one evening and what I saw horrified me. Although it was dark and shadowy it was an older woman obviously drugged out of her mind, had a severe breathing problem and as she spoke here eyes kept rolling back lol BUT she knew my name, my dog's name and other things - the call ended when she passed out.

She then developed an unhealthy interest in me getting Whatsapp installed on my phone

I kept getting photos of her via Skype whilst messaging often of apparently different women as far as I could see, even photographs of her busines - an al fresco bar/ restaurant - well ok it looked like a 40 foot shipping container with some sort of decking round it including a sign with her phone N. on it - then after one particularly boozed up evening I found that I was getting married to her - f@cksake I panicked - excuse - no passport and couldn't get one for 6 weeks - no problem says she, a family member of her's will stand in for me and whist we were chatting she says her mother has arranged the wedding with the Pastor for 28-30 December and says she will forward the bill to me

One email delivered ! her mother had calculated the costs and it contained the following paragraph -

" Community Items
Local Drinks to sever the population has been estimated to about 5 Gallons and will cost, 224.00 pounds
(Apostleship) Alcoholic Drinks to recall down the spirits of the ancestors and lost family members to share the ceremony will cost, 217 pounds
Piton for the Elders and community board members I mean the elders as custom demands will cost, 224.00 pounds
Local Kente cloth 9 yards for the ceremony and bricked African Mats will cost 378 pounds
Jewellery and Adult tree cloth and I will handle that’s can provide that
Vehicle to convey her and family members to ritual Points will cost, 455 pounds............00 for all the three days.

The Items for The church
Since it will be a communion service we will need to buy at least two cartoons of communion wine and it will cost, 280 pounds
Also Drinks to serve congregation after Program might cost, 370 pounds
These are all the things and registering fee will be, 140 pounds and be share among the elders who are going to helped for the success of the Ceremony It cost "

I googled the first line and of course this scam spiel (including spelling and grammatical errors) can be found all over the web except priced in US$. Playing along with the charade I grandly threw an extra few pounds for "sundries" .

There was another video call- this time with her "mother" and " brother" and they were celebrating the news of the forthcoming event - jeez that was so f'cking cringeworthy accepting all the accolades - I mean it was only £3,500 I was sending over lol.

Money was due - I thought I had played her along enough so YESTERDAY

- gave her a false Western Union MTCN No and told her to take her passport to WU and that she had to answer a security question about my dog's name. I thought that would be the end of it when she realised she had been rumbled.

This is where it turns weird - sh calls up and phone call goes like this

Her - They won't pay - number not recognised

Me - what do you expect you lying bitch?

Her - you switch on your camera NOW - I want to see yr face

me - No -

Her - I need to talk to you

me - go home airhead - if you want to scam someone grow a few braincells

Couple of hours later - Skype call - her, her "brother" - and various staff members from her business sitting in the restaurant - and wow was she angry - I had humiliated her in front of her family, what will the pastor think - and she didn't need my money as she had "all this" making a grand sweeping gesture over her shipping container restaurant. It seemed that I "made her sick" - her brother said I was a bad man and the staff tutted energetically and this verbal barrage being thrown at me. And to me said rather sinisterly - "Come to Ghana baby - we can sort things out - I'll send a car to pick you up at the airport"

Message this morning " Go to hell - we're finished"

That's it - my question is why did she want to get back in touch after being rumbled and make such a big hoohah about me misjudging her character ?

I'm convinced it was a scam - but her reaction? You guys got any idea ?

Just to finish off - one memorable message session ended with her saying she was sleepy - goodnights were said, and just before I signed out of Skype the Skype phone displayed a call from her - a rustling sound - two guys talking (French?) and suddenly a huge fart - the phone must have gone off in his backside pocket lol - Strange but true.

Sorry - forgot to mention have copy of her passport - it appears genuine - is that the reason she wants me feel bad so I don't go publishing all this on the web? Which I intend to in full lol

Yeah, it's a scam and I am glad you didn't fall for it. Best thing to do is delete her from everything in your life. Don't contact her anymore. She has your personal information. Do not respond to her. They are scammers and very dangerous to continue!

Now, if you want to bait her again go to the Help, Hints & Tips forum here at Eater and get a mentor! Safe baiting is what it's all about here!

Hi Kawasakiman,

First and foremost, if you gave any personal info to to the scammer (an it's a him) drop all contact immediately. It seems you were appearing on camera on skype and using your real phone number. It is not a good idea to have scammers with your real image (they may have been recording your sessions) or with your phone number. These materials can be used by scammers on other victims and you may have unexpected phone bills etc. So block your phone and skype.

You definitely hit a scammer who is not female. It is common for scammers to recruit someone to appear on camera or even run a video to mislead victims.

While I definitely understand the temptation to "burn" the scammer and call them out, we generally don't do that. We waste their time so they can't troll for more victims. One idea would be to tell them you made a mistake with the MTCN or left it in your car, got into a fight with the clerk etc-make them go to the MG office a number of times. It won't work with Western Union-they can check a number on line.

Since you have a fake skype account, why don't you put together a fake gmail as well. Apply for a mentor who can give you further evil suggestions. Pick a scammer from surplus and have fun. But bait SAFE!

Welcome to the forum! Glad you checked some of that content and likely found my Google chat. I married this boy once, or one using that same script. It is a pathetic ruse to think you should get the whole family and their long lost cousins drunk.

Thanks for the replies people you have answered a lot of questions, especially the fact "she" was a scammer.

I'll get the hang of the forum format re quotes - Capone, you inadvertently answered one of my questions - why did she want to contact me by whatsapp on my mobile - because then she would have my mobile phone no and real identity. And - I was using a fake gmail account so no worries there. Only thing is you got me worried why did she keep trying to get me to get the dog in camera shot? maybe they will use me as film.

somebuddyathome - all contact is now ceased - funny thing is the Skype contact disappeared about an hour after I posted on here. Coincidence ?

Yep - I'm going to stick around - it's winter, I took early retirement and need to do something useful so count me in. I'll post a full transcript of the Skype chat and give you all some idea perhaps of the way this scammers mind works.

A lot of my Vlads use shots with different dogs or kittens. I have had a number of the lads ask for pictures of my dog but I just give them a wiki link to the breed. it is possible they think a pet in the photos would make them appear compassionate if they reuse them on someone.

One thing to keep in mind-this is a he, not a she. Scammers are very rarely female. And the passport is highly likely to be faked.

Glad to hear you faked up a gmail and Skype. There's a lot you can do to get a fake phone number, like K7' google voice or Skype. All sort of advice in the stickies abouT getting an actual cheap phone and SIM card. The idea is to make him call you-waste his phone credits particularly if he's using a +447 number.

Seems I've been forgiven for the WU wheeze but he wants his travel expenses to the bank back £20 - before he'll agree to meet me next month lol

You can find lots of interesting examples here in this site, how to delay wiring matters. The scammers never travel, so even though they say urgent, they are just sitting at the internet cafe, no hurry.
Next Victim's stories are really cool.

While you're waiting, you could have been in an auto accident on the way. The office was closed by the time you got there after work. The clerk was rude and you got in a fight with them. The clerk told you that there wasn't enough information. You left the transfer slip in your car.

Or look at the nifty stuff in the baiting toolbox.

Or tell them NO MG OR WU! They are used by criminals-you only will do an EFT or a bank to bank transfer-offer them more money to do it. Then get ready to go into piggy farming.

Thanks Capone - used some resources on here - the fake MG forms - and said I was late back because I couldn't resist going into the pub for a few beers, and was thrown out of the post office for being drunk and abusive to the staff. I'm beginning to realise the more outrageous the lie the easier they swallow it - they aren't very smart
