Please use a different, unique, complex password for every account you have on the 'ol Internets. That way, if one is compromised the other accounts are safe. I recommend Lastpass or KeePass. They are both fantastic and free for managing passwords like

I use Lastpass with second factor authentication via a YubiKey. LastPass is proprietary but KeePass is FOSS, it that makes you feel better.

I would wholeheartedly agree with PF. Lastpass/Keepass are definitely the way to go. Just make sure that you use a good strong password !! |

All of my gmail accounts are linked to two-step verification on a PAYG mobile and I only use banks that offer 2-step either through a mobile or with a card reader. |

I remember some SciFi thing where hacks were repelled by guard programs that would track the hack to the source and "remove" the attacking computer.
Passwords are almost just a formality these days. Following the rules that were easily cracked it fascinates me more "sensitive" things are messed with.
I wonder how the sites are providing notification. |

I never used LastPass. However, when Adobe was hacked a few months back, LastPass contacted me and let me know that my email address and password had been hacked. I was able to check my work ID and password through them and that was safe.
Thankfully, when Adobe realized they had been hacked they reset all the passwords on the compromised accounts.
It even told me how many other folks were using the same password as me. There was one other person. Who, of course, was me, because I used the same password for my home and work accounts.
And it even told me what the password "hint" was. |
