Ouch ... sore back

Had to go to a 'board room type' meeting last Saturday from my volunteers work, and unfortunately the temperature in the room was rather cold and there was a nasty breeze from the AC unit on my back.
Sad

The result is a sore back and I don't feel 100%.

I was rather dissapointed that we didn't get any goodiebags from the place we were at either. We were allowed to hold this meeting 'free of charge' during a networking event of skin therapists. And if they are getting free goodie bags, why can't the volunteers get anything?

Sorry for my small 'rant'. Loads of other things happened as well that day which can not be explained that easily without revealing things form my RL. I'll just rant a bit when my parents are here later today.

Mrs C had to go on jury service - she was never needed, and spent 2 weeks sat all day on a hard chair.

She can never prove it, but ended up off work for weeks in agony from a trapped nerve, eventually fixed by surgery.

That s*cs too ... Makes my sore back just look like some small trivia in a big pool of medical problems.
The worst that could happen: I would be stuck with a sore back for a week.
Best case scenario for me: it will be over in a day or two.

Thanks all, for the tips.
I got something similar to the Foam Roller.
I kept moving this afternoon and an asperine does the trick for later tonight.
And tomorrow morning I'm going to work by bike which is pretty good to get back in to shape.

This may sound silly, but it has worked for me. Many years ago one of the kids made me a fathers day present, it was simply a cotton tube sock filled with white rice and tied in a knot on the open end. Decorating with markers is optional.

Pop it in the microwave for a minute, knead it, place it where it hurts, and enjoy the warmth. It retains heat for an amazing amount of time. I have used commercial variants of every shape and form over the years but I find this one completely satisfying.

I was about to suggest a salt or wheat pillow, but Pastor Frank beat me to it - and his option sounds both easier and cheaper! Hope it helps!

Another thing that worked for me (was suggested by a doctor when I had pulled my back last and it stuck around) is to take 400mg ibuprofen+500mg paracetamol 3x a day with meals (they are both OTC, and this is far below max levels of what is safe, but taking anti-inflams without food is a bad idea) for a couple of days. Worked for me in about 2-3 days, anyway. Apparently in this case the drugs catalyze each other and work as treatment and not just as painkillers, but taking either if you are leery of taking both, or alternating can also work. Obviously if you have any chronic conditions, and/or are allergic or sensitive to either, or take any other anti-inflams, please ignore what I just wrote since I don't want to suggest anything that would cause drug interactions. Only do this if you aren't taking any other meds on a regular basis!

Back feels a lot better now.
Moving around (read: having to stand and walk all day at work) helped big time ...
Paracetamol and staying warm in the evenings also helped.

PF-I was given one of those for neck arthritis and was amazed that it worked so well. I still have it and use it.
