with the cooperation of the telco, a total of 7 people, 6 nigerian and 1 local woman was arrested, all of them pose as college student.

oh yeah, those nigerian if you come to malaysia to study you did be watch out, if you commit 419 scam in here, your student visa will be revoked and the institute whom keep silence about you will face action by home ministry, education ministry, ect.

nathpesoj, I get many scams coming from foreign college students in my inbox from Malaysia. These scammers spread themselves around the world like rats. I wish it were easier to catch and punish them. Thanks for joining us here to at least slow them down and sometimes be able to get a few arrested.

They pay to study in a distant foreign country and get a opportunity to get a real job after their time but no they still keep doing this. ''Facepalm''

Is it secure to come to Malaysia to study after all these articles?

Like for a westerner to come there without getting scam offers or getting robbed. How is the crime rate there? Is it secure for students? You get alittlebit wrong prejudice of a country when you hear this crime related stuff.

those who graduate will find a better job here or elsewhere but those whom abuse their student visa always involved in crime activity usually 419, drug and now vice activity. for the vice activity and drug case, most of the people fell for it offering higher salary, don't fall for it, check the company's background and do research before apply. with a good common sense, then you are safe, but avoid hanging in the midnight especially week-end because many illegal motorcyclist will roaring down the street

I have heard a lot that in the SE Asian countries are hard on those that commit these type of crimes.. (i.e. long jail, kicked out of the country, slashes, death.. ) is that still true?
